Privacy Policy
How Tody handles your information.
1. Introduction
Tody (“the App”) is a daily task and focus companion. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App. The developer does not operate user accounts or cloud storage for your tasks.
2. Data we process
The App stores the following on your device:
- Task titles and drafts you enter
- Daily planning and focus progress
- Streak history
- Language preference
- Notification preferences
- Insights-related stats derived from your local focus history (including dated completion and postpone/skip outcomes used for Insights)
- A local cache of whether Tody Plus is active
The App does not automatically collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
The App also sends anonymous usage analytics (for example app launches, planning and focus actions, carry-over choices, paywall and purchase outcomes, notification preference changes, and data reset). These signals are not linked to your personal identity. Task titles and draft text are not sent.
3. How data is used
On-device data is used solely to provide App features such as planning three daily tasks, focus mode, streak tracking, carry-over between days, optional local reminders, Insights (when you have Tody Plus), Home Screen widget updates, language display, and unlocking Tody Plus features when you have an active subscription. Morning and evening reminders are available without Tody Plus; the condition-based gentle nudge notification requires Tody Plus. Insights may show performance, day patterns, and task highlights; most Insights metrics use about the last 90 days of local focus history, while streak figures may use your full local history. Anonymous usage analytics are used only to understand which features are used and to improve Tody. Data is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
4. Where data is stored
Your task content, planning, and preference data remain on your device in local storage (UserDefaults and, where applicable, an App Group shared with the Tody Focus widget). That content is not transmitted to the developer's servers because the App has no backend for tasks. Anonymous usage analytics are described in section 7.
5. Purchases and Apple
If you subscribe to Tody Plus, payment processing and subscription status are handled by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit. The developer does not receive your full payment card details. Apple may process purchase-related information under Apple's privacy policy. The App stores only a local entitlement cache so Plus features can work offline until the next StoreKit refresh.
6. Feedback you choose to send
If you use Send feedback in Home screen → Settings, the App opens your device's Mail app with a message you compose. The developer receives only what you choose to send. Sending feedback is optional.
7. Third parties and analytics
The App includes the Lottie library for animations. That library does not receive your task content. Apple system services (App Store, Mail, notifications, widgets) apply their own privacy policies when you use them.
The App uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand product usage. Signals sent to TelemetryDeck may include an anonymous installation identifier, an event name (for example “Focus.sessionEnded”), an approximate timestamp, and device/app metadata (such as app version, system version, and device model). Task titles, draft text, names, email addresses, or other direct identifiers are not sent. This analytics use is not “tracking” as defined by Apple (following users across apps/websites for advertising or data brokers) and does not require App Tracking Transparency permission. 8. Retention and deletion
Task content, planning history, streak history, preferences, and related on-device data remain until you delete them. You can erase local App data at any time via Home screen → Settings → Reset everything, which restores planning and preference data to a first-launch-like state. An active Tody Plus subscription is managed by Apple and is not cancelled by Reset everything; entitlement is re-checked with StoreKit after reset. Uninstalling the App also removes local data.
For Tody Plus Insights, completion rates, day patterns, and task highlights primarily use about the last 90 days of local focus history. Related insights task events older than about 90 days may be removed automatically from on-device storage. Streak calculations and planning history kept for Progress and planning remain until you reset or uninstall, unless the App states otherwise.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the App and in the “Last updated” date shown with this document.
